KUALA LUMPUR: National women’s hockey player Fazilla Sylvester Silin scored another goal when she was promoted to superintendent of the Fire and Rescue Department of Malaysia on Thursday.
The 30-year-old Sarawakian is a midfielder and has represented Malaysia in three Commonwealth Games (2010, 2014 and 2018).
"She is one amazing lass who has exceptional fighting spirit in whatever she puts her mind to. I am very proud of her for achieving this milestone in her life," said national women’s coach K. Dharmaraj.
Malaysian Hockey Federation (MHC) deputy president Datuk Dr S. Shamala said: "The Malaysian women’s hockey team have very special players and one of them is Fazilla Sylvester, fondly known as Zilla.
"She has sacrificed a great deal for the nation, and thanks to the Fire and Rescue Department of Malaysia who has been very supportive in allowing Zilla to represent Malaysia at the recent Commonwealth Games,” said Shamala.
