ALOR STAR: It is about time for Pakatan Harapan to move forward without Pas after its Syura Council decided to end its political cooperation with PKR.

Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (PPBM) president Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin said it is high time for Pakatan Harapan components to start focusing on its strategy to face a three-corner fight with Barisan Nasional (BN) and Pas in the 14th General Election (GE14).

Although acknowledging that Pas decision has dented the opposition’s hope to ensure a straight fight with BN, Muhyiddin said PPBM is still upbeat with the opposition pact’s chances.

“We will move forward since Pas is no longer with us and the possibility of facing a three-corner fight in the next general election.

“In fact we have a better chance of winning if they (Pas) join with Umno so that we can face them in a straight fight.

“However, we still have a good chance if we have the right strategy,” Muhyiddin told a press conference after chairing a meeting with Kedah PPBM divisions leadership at the party’s state headquarters in Stargate here today.

Muhyiddin was commenting on PKR’s decision to relinquish all political appointments involving PKR members and leaders in the Pas-led Kelantan state government.

The move comes in response to Pas Syura Council decision recently to sever its ‘tahaluf siyasi’ with PKR.

PKR president Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail announced the decision after chairing the party’s political bureau meeting yesterday evening.

However, she said party would only decide on the fate of three Pas executive councillors in PKR-led Selangor government after its Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali returns from abroad.
