TEMERLOH: The recently-launched Jaringan Rakyat Plus (JR Plus) election machinery is a value-added strategy to ensure that all Barisan Nasional (BN) component parties work together in the run-up to the 14th general election (GE14).
Pahang Umno liaison committee deputy chairman Datuk Seri Mohd Sharkar Shamsudin said that the JR Plus allows for synergy and cooperation as BN reaches out directly to multiple segments of voters.
"Every voter must be ascertained, and not just at random," he said.
Sharkar said that BN seeks to ensure that the election machinery is focused and targeted on newly-registered voters and past voters who may not have gotten to know the party closely, among other segments.
He was speaking on the sidelines of the MSAM (Unit Trust Week) 2017 Sime Darby Walk at Temerloh Stadium here, today.
Yesterday, Prime Minister and BN chairman Datuk Seri Najib Razak launched JR Plus before a 5,000-strong crowd in Kuala Lumpur.
This morning, around 6,500 people participated in a 3.8 kilometre walk aimed at raising public awareness on the need to safeguard the natural environment and native flora and fauna.
Also present at the event was Sime Darby president and chief executive officer, Tan Sri Mohd Bakke Salleh; Permodalan Nasional Bhd (PNB) chairman, Tan Sri Abdul Wahid Omar; and PNB president and chief executive officer, Datuk Abdul Rahman Ahmad.
