GEORGE TOWN: A barber was detained for sexually assaulting an Australian man yesterday.

The incident was said to have happened at about 12.30pm at a salon located at a mall at Jalan Dr Lim Chwee Leong.

The 50-year-old man allegedly groped the man’s chest and touched his private parts while washing his hair.

The 28-year-old victim immediately lodged a police report on the indecent behaviour of the barber.

“We have detained him and he will be remanded until Jan 1 for further investigation,” said northeast district police chief Assistant Commissioner Anuar Omar in a statement today.

The case is being investigated under Section 354 of the Penal Code for assault with intent to outrage the modesty of the victim.
