KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) has obtained a five-day remand order against three men, including an Indian national, in connection with the issuance of fake accreditation certificates of several private higher learning institutions.
The remand on the three suspects, aged between 30 and 34, were issued by Majistrate Nik Muizzuddin Nik Muhammad in Putrajaya this morning, under Section 16(a)(A) of the MACC Act 2009.
It was reported that the trio were detained in a raid in Jalan Ipoh at 4pm yesterday.
According to a MACC source, the three suspects were believed to be the middle-men who handled the sale of the fake certificates.
He said MACC is working to identify the person responsible for the printing of the fake diploma and degree certificate.
The syndicate was reported to take only one week to produce the fake certificate using the names of local private higher learning institutions in the country. Each certificate was priced between RM2,000 and RM16,000.
