GEORGE TOWN: Malaysian Anti Corruption Commission (MACC) officers today stormed the state administration building in Komtar here, in what appeared to be a follow-up raid over an illegal factory in Sungai Lembu in mainland Penang.
Five MACC officer in plainclothes were spotted at State Welfare, Caring Society and Environment Committee chairman Phee Boon Poh's office at Level 53 about 11.30am.
Rumours of the raid had been circulating among the media as early as 9am, with many members of the press camping out at Level 3 of Komtar after being barred from Level 53.
Yesterday, MACC had raided the factory, its office as well as the Licensing Department office of the Seberang Prai Municipal Council.
MACC officers were seen entering the council's building in Bandar Perda about 10.30am and left three hours later with bags of documents.
