Plan for a romantic getaway at the The Villa Sunway Resort Hotel & Spa, writes Hanna Hussein
THERE’S nothing more satisfying than spending the weekend just unwinding and relaxing in a luxurious villa, and that is exactly what I did with my other half.
Instead of wasting our days at home, we booked a stay at The Villa of Sunway Resort Hotel and Spa, a five-star resort located in one of the busiest entertainment hubs in Bandar Sunway, Selangor.
Sunway Resort Hotel and Spa offers quite a number of accommodation selections, but The Villa is exclusively for a couple getaway.
Our arrival at the resort is welcomed with sweet smiles from the bell boy at the lobby. Instead of checking in at the reception, we are ushered directly to our villa, which is situated some distance from the main building.
Ours is the Deluxe Villa which is located at the outermost perimeter for maximum privacy. Walking through the Villa compound feels like stepping into a different world, an enclosed sanctuary with lush greenery away from the city.
“Welcome to the Deluxe Villa, your home for the weekend,” says Linda, one of the attendants at The Villa. She shows us a quick preview of our stay, and immediately checks us in.
Our exclusive Deluxe Villa is gorgeous! The outdoor terrace has a large private infinity-edge pool overlooking the tranquil forest, a swing (I can imagine myself reading while sipping a cup of tea here) and a dining table by the pool area.
The inside is really spacious with a fourposter king-sized bed with oh-so-plush mattress, a joined living space, a balcony with scenic vantage point, and a vanity/ office space with complimentary WiFi. I love the way they have laid out the area which feels exclusive and ritzy with choices of wooden and rattan furniture.
The best part of the villa (for me) is the huge bathroom which is equipped with private rain shower and a deep sunken bathtub. Couples can also opt for a Romance Bath set up offering five bath menus with rituals to put you at perfect ease. All for an additional RM185 per couple!
Well, staying at The Villa has plenty of perks. One is that you can have a private breakfast in the privacy of the villa at no extra charge. You get to choose from three menus - American, Malaysian or Middle Eastern Breakfast set - and the portion is generous!
Guests will also have the benefit of enjoying The Pavillion, an exclusive lounge. You can have your complimentary breakfast, evening cocktails with light snacks and even complimentary all-day coffee and tea here.
In the room, you will also get four bottles of mineral water and complimentary minibar with soft drinks replenished daily.
Well, to make our stay more memorable, we also booked a “romance dinner” in the villa for an extra RM466.40 per couple with a choice of a three-course menu. The dining table area by the pool is decorated with red roses and candles, and we get to enjoy the evening under the stars. It’s so romantic!
A couple getaway would not be complete without a spa-treatment.
Near to our villa is the Mandara Spa, an internationally known spa which offers a range of treatments, incorporating the wisdom of ancient cultures with the latest spa sciences from the luxury Elemis spa-therapy brand.
I opt for the most relaxing therapy of Balinese Massage, which harness the therapeutic properties of 100 per cent essential oils. My therapist Mimie introduces me to four types of oils - Mandara, Island Spice, Harmony and Tranquility - from which I choose one. I select the sweet relaxing scent of Harmony Oil which goes well with my treatment.
The treatment room is spacious and well-decorated. It is filled with a calming aroma, and a relaxing background Balinese carol. The treatment starts with a foot scrub and then continues with a one hour and 20 minutes of heavenly massage by Mimie. My mind and body are completely calm and at ease, even after the treatment ends.
We do not miss our chance to dine at one of our favourite hotel restaurants, the Resort Cafe. I have to admit, every time I visit this restaurant, I am wowed by the enormous buffet choices.
The dining experience is presented by five well-travelled chefs with diverse personalities and styles, bringing together the most authentic taste of popular dishes around the world. There are local dishes, Indo-Chine selections, Oriental cuisine from Japan, Korea and China, Spices of India from Northern and Southern India, and Western choices, as well as Middle Eastern cuisine!
You’ll definitely be impressed by the monumental towers of appetising salad and seasonal fruits, displayed in a first of its kind in Malaysia wrap-around towers which are equipped with chilled water pipes and refrigeration system.
Guests from The Villa will also be able to enjoy the breakfast here if they are looking for more choices. But, I would definitely recommend the dinner (where you can choose with or without Churrasco on the side) during the weekend. Priced at RM128 nett per adult.
