THE stalls in Jalan SS5D/2, Kelana Jaya, near the Giant hypermarket, are a draw for rats.

Abdul Aziz Idris claimed that the traders had failed to keep the place clean.

“They have been leaving rubbish and leftovers by the side of the road and drain. This has attracted rodents to the area.

“The problem is that the stalls, which open daily from 8.30am to 7pm/8pm, were set up too close to the residential area, and now our homes are also infested with rodents.

“The stalls have been there for over 10 years now and the number of traders has grown. I am concerned for my family’s wellbeing,” he said.

Aziz, who has been living in the neighbourhood for the past 30 years, said there was a need for the authorities to relocate the stalls further from the residential areas.

Petaling Jaya City Council (MBPJ) public relations officer Zainun Zakaria said the council’s health team would be sent to the location to inspect the stalls.

“They will check the area and take immediate action.

“Anyone who has similar complaints can call MBPJ hotline at 03-7954 2020.”
